A woman is dead and a teenager is hospitalized under police guard following a stabbing in Melbourne.
Emergency services were called to the former Royal Hotel in Footscray at around 2am on Thursday following reports of an altercation.
A woman with a stab wound was found dead at the scene.
A teenage girl was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital for medical examination. She remains under police guard.
The former Barkly Street hotel site is now considered an apartment complex, Seven News reported.
Homicide detectives and medical examiners remain on scene Thursday morning.
Police are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.
