Horror as toddler, 2, is discovered alone in unit with the body of the child’s father who’d been dead for four days

A little boy was found alone in a unit with the body of the boy’s father who had been dead for days.

The tragedy was discovered around 11.30am on Good Friday when Queensland Police responded to the home on Stapylton St in Coolangatta on the Gold Coast.

Officers were there to conduct a welfare check after a call from a family member who said they had not been able to contact the man since Monday.

The officers, surprised, found the man’s body and the two-year-old child inside the property.

The man is believed to have been dead for up to four days.

The boy was taken to Tweed Heads Hospital for a check-up and He has since been reunited with his mother.

The death of the man, who was an Iranian immigrant, is reportedly not suspicious, but the cause of his death is under investigation.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
