Human remains were discovered in a well near the apartment of missing Texas college student Caleb Harris months after he disappeared when he went to pick up a food delivery.

The remains were found by Corpus Christi, Texas, city employees who were performing routine maintenance work on a 40-foot-deep well at the Perry Point wastewater collection point on Monday, according to a statement from Corpus Christi Police.

Detectives are investigating how the human remains got into the well.

The remains were found near the missing apartment of Caleb Harris, 21, a sophomore at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi, who disappeared on March 4 without his shoes, wallet and keys.

In the early hours of March 4, he went downstairs to pick up an Uber Eats delivery at his Corpus Christie home, but never returned.

His roommate found the order outside the apartment door the next day. His disappearance was reported at 11 am.

The 21-year-old had spent the night playing with a dog that had just been purchased by one of his two roommates and had been sending Snapchats to his sister until moments before it disappeared.

Uber says the order was delivered to the door of the apartment block on Ennis Joslin Road and there was no sign of Harris, who had turned off his phone seconds earlier.

Police and Harris’ family have been desperately searching for the student since his disappearance a few months ago.
