Police in the Canadian capital have arrested one person after a horrific incident that left four children and two adults dead.
According to Ottawa authorities, six people were found in a home just south of the city center around 11 p.m. Wednesday.
In a statement, police said the investigation would be “tragic and complex.” Five of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene and one was rushed to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The identities of the deceased have not been made public. One person is in custody in connection with the deaths and officers stressed there are no further threats to the community.
The person was arrested at the scene of the deaths in the 300 block of Berrigan Drive.
