Thomas Matthew Crooks is seen crawling across a building about 130 metres from the stage where Donald Trump spoke on Saturday.

New video emerged Sunday night showing Donald Trump supporters outside the security perimeter targeting the would-be assassin as he crawled on the roof of a nearby building before opening fire on the former president.

A nearly 50-second clip showed rally-goers who were unable to get into the event in Butler, Pennsylvania, staring, pointing and asking why there was a man on the roof of an industrial building just 130 yards from the stage where Trump was speaking.

“Look, everyone is pointing,” the man behind the camera is heard saying as the camera pans from the stage to the roof of the warehouse, where a figure is seen crawling. “Yeah, there’s someone up on the roof, look.”

“He’s on the roof!” a woman shouts 40 seconds into the video, as Trump can be heard continuing his remarks in the background.

Moments later, Crooks, 20, attempted to carry out an assassination attempt on Trump, killing one and wounding two others in the process.

New video has emerged showing people outside the security perimeter of Donald Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, pointing and yelling about a man on a nearby roof who turned out to be would-be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks.

A bullet hit the former president’s ear, but his campaign says he is otherwise “doing well.”

A turn of the head to look at the giant screen displaying graphics with immigration statistics could have saved his life, according to his aides and analyses of the bullet’s trajectory.

Former fire chief Corey Comperatore, 50, died in the crosshairs of the attack while protecting his wife and two daughters. David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74, suffered serious injuries but are now in “stable” condition. All three are from Pennsylvania.

The video, which shows a new angle of the shooter moments before he opened fire, says on screen: “Plenty of time and opportunity to eliminate the threat,” as questions swirl about where the security lapse was that allowed the assassination attempt.

“There he is, right there. Do you see him?” the cameraman says as he points to Crooks lying on his side atop the building in the video. Obtained by deaf journalist Annie Dance, based in North Carolina.

The video shows a handful of people standing in the shade and looking in the direction of the would-be shooter.

Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was killed by Secret Service seconds after attempting to shoot Trump at his rally on Saturday.

Crooks, who had just graduated from high school two years ago in the nearby community of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was immediately neutralized by the Secret Service seconds after the assassination attempt.

To carry out the attack he used an AR-15 that his father purchased legally.

The FBI is now investigating the crime and searched Crooks’ family home, where they found explosive materials and bombs in his vehicle, which was parked near the site of the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday.

Congress wants to conduct its own investigation into the matter, looking specifically at security lapses that may have allowed the attack to take place.
