Shocking footage captured the moment an accused kidnapper approached a toddler and took him away from his Florida home.
Jose Reynaldo Martinez Reyes, 56, was arrested and charged with kidnapping and interference with custody after he was caught with six-year-old Jake Rivera about a mile from the boy’s home on Saturday.
Rivera was playing soccer with his older brother in front of his house when the brother went inside to use the bathroom and Reyes approached, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department.
Surveillance video of a neighbor’s home obtained by NBC6 showed Reyes kicking the ball with the boy.
After briefly playing with the boy, Reyes put his arm around Rivera and told him to walk away from the house.
Police said that after befriending the six-year-old boy, Reyes lured him away from the residence with the promise of buying him a toy.
“The guy came up to me and said, ‘Do you want to come with me?’ And I said yes,” Rivera told the local news station.
When the older brother returned and realized Rivera was missing, he called his cousin and began searching for the boy.

“I was sleeping and my cousin woke me up and told me that my little cousin had been kidnapped by a man,” said Alfredo Velásquez, his cousin.
The couple found Reyes and Rivera walking hand in hand along the road more than a mile from their home.
Rivera’s brother confronted Reyes, who claimed the boy was his son and began physically fighting to control him.
“His older brother came in and pushed him and punched him just to get his brother back and put him in the car,” Velasquez said.
The investigation determined that Reyes has no family ties to anyone involved in this incident and was a stranger to the child.
