This is the horrifying moment a Palestinian influencer set off fireworks in a child’s room before being arrested while trying to leave the country.
Footage shows Attalah Younes, 24, on New Year’s Eve lighting fireworks and shooting them at an apartment building in the Berlin suburb of Neukoelln.
The fireworks went through the closed third-floor window and exploded inside, and the room apparently caught fire.
No one was injured by the fireworks explosion and only the carpet and some furniture in the room were damaged, German tabloid Bild reports.
Younes’ video caused outrage in Germany after more than 10 million people watched the tourist from Nablus, West Bank, play with fireworks.
Younes, who only speaks Arabic, claims to have been the victim of racist attacks after the video went viral.
He was detained at Berlin-Brandenburg airport on Saturday, before his 5:55 p.m. flight to Jordan.
Berlin police said in a statement on Saturday: “A man suspected of a serious arson attack on New Year’s Eve was arrested today by (federal police) while trying to leave the country at Berlin airport after search operations by our (State Criminal Police)”.

If Younes is convicted, he could face prison time.
Just before his arrest, Younes had told a Bild journalist at the airport that he “just wanted to celebrate” and that he “didn’t know (the fireworks) were so dangerous.”
Shortly after, armed police appeared and arrested him and his traveling companion.
A judge will decide today whether he will remain detained.
This comes after the influencer posted an apology video on his Instagram account, where he sits next to the owner of the apartment he shot.
He told the owner that he didn’t know where the fireworks would fly and that he didn’t intend for them to hit the apartment.
But Younes later appeared defiant when speaking to local outlet Zeit, saying: “What do the police want from me?” Do you think I’m a refugee?

He also told the newspaper that he was a tourist and visiting Germany for the first time.
Younes said he had been the victim of racist abuse after social media users told him to leave the country following his stunt.
The Palestinian influencer shared his trip to Germany with his 300,000 Instagram followers.
The video of him setting off the fireworks on New Year’s Eve has since been deleted.
