It’s the horrifying moment when nurses discover a newborn baby who was thrown into a hospital trash bag by a teenage mother, who claimed she didn’t know she was pregnant.
Alexee Trevizo, 19, can be seen running to the bathroom inside Artesia General Hospital in New Mexico in January of this year in new surveillance footage.
Trevizo had gone to the hospital with back pain, but tests revealed she was pregnant and in labor.
The new footage shows nearly twenty minutes passing before she returns to her room on the ward and staff can inspect the toilets after she leaves.
Investigators say after using the bathroom she gave birth to the baby boy before placing him in the bin.
Trevizo was charged in May with first-degree murder and one count of tampering with evidence and was released without an ankle monitor until the trial date.

Shortly after she emerged from the toilet a cleaning lady made the shocking discovery and staff can be seen here after making the discovery

The cleaner who made the horrific discovery is seen being consoled in this photo by two other staff members, before being led away from the scene
More than twenty minutes later, a servant can be seen cleaning the toilet after staff said they discovered blood inside.
The cleaner can be seen calling another member of staff and the two stare into a black bin bag before the two quickly back away.
After realizing what they found, other staff can be seen arriving on the scene to check the contents of the bin.
Five minutes after the discovery, the cleaner who found the newborn can be seen being comforted by two staff members before being led away by another with an arm over her shoulder.
Shortly after, police can be seen arriving at the scene and body camera footage was captured as a doctor explains to Trevizo and his mother: “We found a dead baby in the bathroom.”
Trevizo tells the doctor, “I’m sorry, it slipped out of me and I didn’t know what to do… I was just scared, it wasn’t crying or anything.”
Trevizo’s distraught mother holds her head in her hands as she begs her daughter, saying, “What have you done?”
“What did you do to him?” asks the mother, holding her head in her hands, desperate, before the doctor tells her “stop there”.

Trevizo’s mother appears to have had no idea her daughter was nine months pregnant

‘It came out of me, I put it in the bag. In the garbage bag. Im sorry mom whispers traumatized teen
“Guys number one priority,” the doctor continues, “is that she just had a baby, I don’t know if she expelled the placenta.” She bleeds a lot’ she said, before explaining that the teenager must be moved to the obstetrician.
“I’m sorry about that, but regarding the delivery of a baby and it looks like you tried to cover it up, we need to get the police involved.”
“The baby is going to have to be taken for an autopsy and there will be an investigator and everything” continues the doctor in a calm voice.
“I’m so sorry, but we have to do it right and I want to be transparent with you about what our steps are going to be.”
“Nothing was screaming, it came out with nothing,” repeats Trevizo.
A male doctor in the room then asks the mother and daughter if they have any questions, to which Trevizo’s mother asks how big the baby is.
“It’s over time,” replies the masked doctor.
‘What!’ she exclaims, suggesting she didn’t know her daughter was nine months pregnant before the birth.

Newly released body camera footage shows heartbreaking confession
‘Lexi, have you watched the news about what girls do to their babies and they go to jail’ asks the frustrated mother.
A traumatized Trevizo bursts into tears and is then told that there are detectives on the way to speak to her and that she is now being held in hospital under police custody.
At the start of the body camera footage released, a nurse told responding officers that Trevizo had a positive pregnancy test but denied having had sex.
Investigators say by the time the baby was found he was dead and an autopsy listed the cause of death as homicide in March.
On May 10, police charged Trevizo with first-degree murder, “or alternatively” intentional child abuse resulting in death, plus one count of tampering with evidence.
Trevizo has since been released from prison and will be able to complete the school year without an ankle monitor or house arrest, pending trial.
Gary C. Mitchell, a Trevizo attorney, previously told The Associated Press that his client had no criminal record and should not face a murder charge.
He said there were ‘major discrepancies about what happened’ at the hospital and ‘this is not a classic case of child abuse’.
This is the second high-profile case of a mother and newborn in New Mexico in recent years.
Jurors convicted 19-year-old Alexis Avila of throwing her newborn baby into an outdoor trash can in January 2020 in Hobbs, New Mexico.
