A New York Police Department officer was left with a bloody face after being beaten in broad daylight by a repeat offender, horrific footage shows.
Ernst Delma, 41, lunged at the unnamed officer on a Bronx sidewalk at around 7:10 p.m. Thursday, the New York Police Department told DailyMail.com.
A department spokesman said police attempted to arrest Delma on Randall Avenue when he “struck an officer in the face.”
“The officer suffered lacerations to her lips and was transported to an area hospital in stable condition,” they said.
A video filmed by a bystander shows an NYPD officer holding Delma to the ground as she appears to struggle to escape.

The scene is so chaotic that Delma loses his pants and exposes himself to people on the street before being handcuffed.
Meanwhile, the officer who was hit can be seen on her knees, bloodied and dazed, as a member of the public stops her from falling.
Police appeared visibly shaken as blood poured from her nose and a man lifted her off the ground.
Delma’s attack came after she tried to intervene in an argument he was having with a group of children.
The attacker, who lives on the Bronx street where he carried out the attack, has been charged with assaulting a police officer and obstructing law enforcement.

NYPD said he was taken to St Barnabas Hospital for evaluation and the investigation is ongoing.
Delma was on parole at the time of the assault and has a long list of prior arrests, including for assault and robbery, authorities said.
This comes as figures from earlier this year revealed that police officers in the Big Apple are facing an increasing number of attacks by criminals.
In 2023, the number of officers injured by violent suspects rose to just over 4,000 during the first nine months of the year.
New York Police Department statistics indicate that the total number of violent events is projected to be around 5,400.
In 2022, that number was about 4,700, a 20 percent increase compared to 2021, when the number was about 3,950.
