Gruesome photos show the slaughtered whale carcasses on a beach, while another poignant image shows a dead calf in their dead mother.

Environmental campaign group Sea Shepherd UK, which took photos of whaling on the island, said five pregnant whales were also killed, bringing the total to 94.

The hunt lasted more than 5 hours with boats chasing the pod of whales.

The creatures are not yet considered threatened due to the lack of documentation.

According to a member of the Sea Shepherd organization, this is not the first time this has happened this year.
