These are the horrific consequences of a deadly car crash that left two British golfers dead and a third seriously injured after their vehicles collided with a suspected drug traffickers’ speedboat that broke free from a trailer.
The trio were the first to collide with the 32-foot-long, four-seater ‘narco-boat’ when it ended up on the tarmac near the resort town of La Manga on Saturday night around 9:30 p.m.
Local media reported that the boat fell when the car carrying it was traveling at 120 kilometers per hour.
A photograph taken after the accident, on the RM-12, a highway known colloquially as the La Manga highway, near El Algar between La Manga and Cartagena, showed the right side of a gray car almost completely torn away.
Small pieces of metal and pieces of car glass can be seen along the highway.
Behind the badly damaged car is another one with a bent hood.
Video footage taken at the crash site showed a multi-car crash, with many vehicle parts scattered across the road.
At least one of the cars involved in the accident ended up overturned and another was left with massive damage to the front and the roof collapsed.

The crash site is believed to be about 30 kilometers southeast of the city of Murcia.
Firefighters spent almost half an hour freeing the bodies of the two Britons who died from the mangled remains of their vehicle.
They are believed to have been pronounced dead at the scene after emergency services realized there was nothing they could do to save them.
Local reports, noting the likelihood that they were vacationing in the area, said the trunk of their car was full of golf clubs.
Police confirmed the nationalities of the victims and said eight other people in six cars traveling behind them were injured in the massive crash.
The driver of the vehicle transporting the suspect vessel on a trailer fled the scene and was still being pursued by police.
Local media reported that a set of supermarket receipts may be the key to identifying the culprits.
They are believed to come from a known chain, which police use to trace purchases and identify the culprits through CCTV analysis.
While the local press initially described the two people who died as two women, saying this morning that they were “foreign tourists” in their 40s, a Civil Guard spokesperson later confirmed the couple’s nationalities, stating that both they like the seriously injured victim “were British men.” between 47 and 54 years.’

An emergency coordination center reported after the huge crash: ‘Traffic accident on the RM-12 towards La Manga in the municipality of El Algar.

“We recommend using alternative routes to facilitate access for emergency services.”
Police have already said they will not formally name the Britons, although the men who died have been identified locally only by their initials as PD, 49, and JW, 57, and the survivor as IP, 54.
