Surveillance video captured the horrifying moment a man was executed while drinking at a bar in Bogotá, Colombia’s capital.

In the footage, the 27-year-old can be seen sitting with two men around 11:16 p.m. Saturday night in the Kennedy neighborhood.

A customer enters the bar and is followed by the attacker, who punches him and shoots the victim three times in the back of the head.

Horrified patrons could barely move from their seats at the small bar when the gunman escaped and the victim was left slumped on the table.

Bogotá police commander Julio Botero told reporters that the victim’s murder may have been prompted by a settling of scores.

Bogotá police said the fatal shooting may have been caused by a dispute the 27-year-old victim was having with rivals.

Botero added that he had been released from prison three months ago.

The victim had a long record that included arrests for illegal weapons possession and drug trafficking.

Authorities in Bogotá had not made any arrests as of Wednesday afternoon.

Crime statistics show that 354 homicides were recorded in the first four months of 2024.

By comparison, 349 murders were reported during the same period last year. Authorities recorded 305 murders during the first four months of 2022.

April has been the deadliest month this year, with 111 murders reported, an 11 percent increase from March.

At least half of the murders that occurred between January and April have been carried out by hitmen.

Councilwoman Diana Diagó said Mayor Carlos F. Galán’s administration has done nothing to stop the violence.

“Insecurity is a headache for Bogota residents,” he said.

‘And with the change of government there is no improvement, we have been in this administration for almost 6 months and we still do not see a clear panorama in terms of security.’
