The Los Angeles police released camera images on Tuesday when a man with a machete hand was shot, just as he was about to use the sword-like weapon to hit an officer.
The man in the shots was identified as Nathaniel Pinnock, who was shot after he allegedly robbed a story about car stocks on November 25.
He can be seen in the images and has added a witness video, pursued by the police who used a taser and beanbag rifle unsuccessfully to stop him before pictures were taken to immobilize him.

Images of the suspect show him a few moments before he lifts a machete to hit an officer
A camera footage of an officer’s body shows the suspect, later identified as Nathaniel Pinnock, 22, moments before he lifts the machete to hit, but is shot
Pinnock sees the police escaping, stealing a car from a fast-food drive, calling in an officer and lifting the sword-like knife as if he should strike when the police say they should shoot him.
The bodycam video was released as part of a ‘Critical Incident Community Briefing’ preceded by warnings for the graphic content by Josh Rubenstein, the public information director of the LAPD.
‘A word of warning, the images and information that you are going to see can be disturbing. When a police officer uses force to arrest a suspect or defend himself against an attack, this is graphical and difficult to view, “he says.
The release of the video footage was to give the audience a better understanding of the events as they unfolded and led to the shooting, police said, and the investigation can take up to a year.
Captain Gisselle Espinoza of the media relations department explains what can be seen in the images. The images contain a mug shot of Pinnock and plot the path he would have taken after the robbery.

The suspect, later identified as Pinnock, was armed with the machete when he allegedly robbed a local auto parts store on the corner of Fountain and Highland Avenue.
The police receive a call and start a chase.
Pinnock, who uses the machete, is then confronted with agents outside the drive-in of a fast-food restaurant.
He can be seen in the images that are ordered to put down the machete. He squats down, but does not seem to let go of the machete.
Instead, the footage causes the suspect to enter the roadway, where he opens the driver’s door of a dark-colored car that has been abandoned by his driver.
A video from a witness mobile phone was included in the images showing another vantage point of the suspect who encounters the drive-in and steals a dark-colored car.

Police officers surround the vehicle and a taser is discharged, which does not stop the suspect. He can then be seen in the images that drive away in the vehicle.
The images show the vehicle that patrol cars hit in the driveway before it is blocked to get away.
The suspect then sees the hunt resumed, while still wearing the machete.

The bodycam of an officer shows the officer who shoots a beanbag gun at the suspect, who suddenly turns back to the officer.
“Drop the machete!” the officer shouts to the suspect when he goes backwards.
The images show how the officer falls to the ground while the suspect lifts the knife above his head to hit and gunshots are heard.
The images then show the suspect on the floor in the middle of an avenue. He doesn’t move like police officers, some look nervous, circling around him.
Police said Pinnock was taken into custody and taken to a local hospital where he was declared dead.
The machete was restored from the scene.
