Homes Under The Hammer host Jacqui Joseph was left feeling ‘jealous’ after one lucky property owner snapped up a home that looked like it was from a ‘postcard’.

The property, situated on a quaint little street near a Kent river, impressed Jacqui from the outside – but didn’t have quite the same allure when she walked through its doors.

From the outside, the Rochester property had a great deal of charm, but on the inside it was a shell with the interior of most of its laps ripped out.

But she still felt ‘seriously jealous’ of lucky new home owner Peter, who managed to snap up the Victorian terraced house in Kent for £260,000.

She added: ‘Wow this home, I’m seriously jealous, it has huge potential.’

Although Peter managed to carry out a fantastic and much needed renovation on the dated property, the renovation still faced its challenges.

Since the property was located in a protected area, there were several rules and regulations for construction.

Lucky with a neighbor doing their own extension, the home already had automatic planning permission guaranteed.

Although the two-bedroom Victorian house had a healthy-sized living room, the kitchen was extremely narrow.

Presenter Jacqui suggested moving the bathroom to the second floor, while the downstairs area was converted into an open-plan living and dining area.

Peter appeared to take the host’s advice on board and splash out an eye watering £100,000 on doubling the size of the home.

The craftsman, who boasts a small property portfolio and has previously featured in the exhibition, first chose to build a rear extension on the property so she could create a large utility room and kitchen.

The new extension also meant that Peter could build another bedroom and move the bathroom downstairs to the second floor.

Although the tradition went slightly over budget and spent £140,000 in total, Jacqui was still left in awe of her hands-on work.

She noted how the bedroom had been impressively reconstructed to make room for a staircase so that another room could be built in the attic.

Peter’s work was not in vain either as his renovation work increased the value of his house by almost £200,000.

According to Jacqui, the house would now be worth almost £450,000 if it came on the market and could also command £1,900 a month in rent.

As it stood, the home would have been worth up to DKK 450,000 if it had been sold, and he would have received around DKK 1,900 per calendar month in rent.

According to the property expert, the home would also fetch DKK 1,900 after the renovation
