To spite a local neighbor, a Florida builder built a small, two-story, 10-foot-wide house that is now on the market for $619,000.

Aside from this, the home also has nine-foot high ceilings on the ground floor and vaulted ceilings that reach up to 10 feet.

This unique home went viral after agent Ryan Wetherhold of Oceanside Real Estate revealed how it came about.
He explained that he and builder John Atkins first wanted to make the house 15 feet wide, but building codes required the house to have 7.5 feet of space on each side.
When the duo attempted to change the rule, residents of the upscale neighborhood responded and said they wanted the plot to remain open.
One of those locals had even started a garden on the land and convinced others to attend a public meeting.
‘You have that mafia mentality where it leads. The board members then cannot make decisions for themselves.
‘If there are 100 people who say no, and there is no one who says, “Yes, let’s do it,” those people get along. “Those voices carry,” Wetherhold said. Click Orlando.
As a result, he and Atkins were left with only a 10-foot-wide option.
He explained that he and builder John Atkins first wanted to make the house 15 feet wide, but building codes required the house to have 7.5 feet of space on each side.
‘He got creative within the code and was able to make bay windows and folding seats which really helped and that was the difference.
“Being able to use their knowledge of the building code to make it, honestly, a nice, practical, user-friendly home for the buyer,” he explained.
Despite the size of the building, the property has generated a lot of interest from people and even has a potential buyer.
‘Normally you get 50 views in the first few days, and this one already had between 1,000 and 2,000 in the first few days.
“So we knew from the moment we published it that it was something special, something unique and something that definitely opened our eyes.
‘I put a lot of effort into marketing and you hope to reach people through the usual avenues just with your marketing.
“But (the buyer) really saw it despite all the publicity it got,” Wetherhold exclaimed.
Wetherhold says the home is perfect for “a person who wants to be in a neighborhood of million-dollar homes but doesn’t want the maintenance factor of that and still wants to be in a nice area and pay about half the price.” .
But while the property may seem like an introvert’s dream, the agent warned that it may be difficult to store larger vehicles inside the garage.
“You can fit a truck in there, but to open the doors and all that, it’s a pretty tight fit.”
‘In our community, however, we sell a lot of one- or two-door garages, and we don’t find anyone in our community even parking in the garage. What they put in their garage are golf carts, bicycles, beach items and gardening equipment,’ he explained.
