A man who allegedly threw boiling liquid at four people in a rampage in New York City smiled as he made his first court appearance.
Larry Martin, 42, was charged with a series of attacks that left four people with burns on March 6, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
At an arraignment hearing Thursday in New York State Supreme Court, Martin flashed a smile while wearing a bright orange jumpsuit.
“Larry Martin allegedly committed violent attacks on four randomly selected individuals walking through Midtown in less than two hours,” said District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
‘My thoughts are with the victims as they recover from their serious injuries. No one should fear for their safety while walking through Manhattan.’

At an arraignment hearing Thursday in New York State Supreme Court, Martin flashed a smile while wearing a bright orange jumpsuit.
The NYPD shared a video of him walking the streets during the alleged attacks and arrested him the next day.
Martin allegedly poured boiling water on four people for two hours in unprovoked attacks.
Prosecutors said he poured hot water down a man’s back at 7:10 a.m. on March 6 at East 44th Street and Lexington Avenue, causing burns on his neck.
Then, at 7:46 a.m. at West 56th Street and 6th Avenue, he allegedly poured boiling water on the side of the second victim’s face, causing burns and hearing loss.
Later, at approximately 8:15 a.m. at West 42nd Street and 7th Avenue, he is accused of throwing hot liquid from a cup onto the right side of the third victim’s face, burning it.
Shortly after, at 8:39 a.m. on West 35th Street, Martin allegedly poured a boiling liquid over the fourth victim’s chest and hand, burning them.
The NYPD shared a video of him walking the streets during the attacks and arrested him the next day.
He was charged with four counts of attempted first-degree assault and four counts of second-degree assault.
Martin was held without bail and his next court appearance is scheduled for May 6.
The police said The New York Post His last known address was a homeless shelter in Brooklyn and he has a prior arrest for allegedly assaulting a 70-year-old man in Queens in August 2021.
