A high school senior and her older DJ boyfriend were found shot to death while apparently heading to a homecoming dance.

Dasayla Ardoin, 17, of Mamou, Louisiana, was found dead along with her boyfriend, Glenkeithan Robertson, 21, of Opelousas, by deputies with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office around 7 p.m. Saturday.

They are believed to have been heading to homecoming festivities at Mamou High School, where Ardoin was a student, when they were killed.

“Based on the investigation, this case is believed to be a murder/suicide,” the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on social media Monday.

A witness to the shooting described how the couple pulled up in a truck before hearing gunshots.

“A truck stopping right across the street happens all the time, literally every day,” Austin Bellard he told KLFY.

“It wasn’t a truck I normally saw, but it didn’t look out of place either.

“They stopped and I heard a couple of gunshots, I didn’t really think anything of it,” Bellard said.

But he said he then ran to see what had happened, telling the local news station: “I don’t want to tell you what I saw.” It wasn’t good.’

One person on Facebook also identified Ardoin as her cousin, writing, “Man she doesn’t deserve that, she can’t even graduate and enjoy her life yet because of a selfish mf.”

Robertson’s Facebook page shows he was a local DJ, with tributes to emerging talent.

“I kept praying it wasn’t true,” Parker Reagan wrote of the news. ‘I walked back and forth trying to compose myself because I had a job to do.

‘All the DJs, young and old, respected this guy because he did his thing every time!!!!!’ he wrote, describing Robertson as his “go-to guy for anything.”

“I’m in so much disbelief because the kid was destined for greatness, you hear me?”

Brantasia Duffy, who identified Robertson as her cousin, also wrote that she couldn’t sleep.

“I can’t get over the fact that he is truly gone,” she wrote on her profile.

‘This doesn’t sit well with me, but you got your wings.

‘I’m so sorry, I wish I could have saved you. I wish you would have called me and talked to me,” Duffy said.

An aunt also wrote that he “is and was loved by everyone he came into contact with,” while pleading with the community not to judge her nephew.

He had shared a photo of him and Ardoin about two months ago, with the caption: “You and me against the world.”
