Ada Nicodemou has revealed she fears giving her son Johnas his own phone and access to social media.
The Home and Away star, 47, admitted she will give her 12-year-old son a phone when he starts high school next year, but is concerned about bullying happening online.
Ada explained that she has a “love-hate relationship” with social media because she finds it addictive.
She admitted that she tries to ignore negative comments from trolls, but that they occasionally have an impact on her.

Ada also warned parents that it is best to keep children “off social media” as much as possible.
The actress supports Unplug24, a campaign to boycott networking platforms for 24 hours on October 24.
The campaign was organized by Wayne Holdsworth, who found his 17-year-old son Mac dead in his Melbourne home after online trolls tricked him into carrying out a sextortion scam via social media.

The soap opera star shares her son Johnas with her ex-husband Chrys Xipolitas, to whom she was married for nine years.
They reportedly separated briefly in 2010 before reconciling and welcoming their son in August 2012.
Ada split from Chrys for good and dated businessman Adam Rigby for about eight years before splitting in 2023.
She then began dating her co-star James Stewart following his divorce from Sarah Roberts in March this year.

The Home and Away on-screen lovebirds were first linked in real life when they were seen sharing a kiss on Anzac Day.
Ada finally broke off their relationship in July when she confirmed she was dating her former co-star James, 48, and described their romance as “unexpected”.
‘Jimmy and I are together, yes. It’s just the first days. It is very recent and very unexpected. I’m super happy. “It’s really lovely,” she told Stellar Magazine.
