Tammin Sursok celebrated an incredible milestone on Wednesday when she revealed that she hasn’t touched a glass of alcohol in two years.

The former Home and Away star, 41, told Daily Mail Australia that he was previously like any other true blue Australian of drinking age, reaching out to order a glass of wine at a social event.

But in October 2022, the shit show podcast The hostess decided to jump on the bandwagon for good and stopped using alcohol as a crutch to help alleviate her social anxiety.

‘I wasn’t an alcoholic and I don’t want this to take anything away from people who do struggle. “I just drank because they tell us it’s a social thing,” Tammin said.

‘Sometimes it helped me with my anxiety and then over time I realized, especially as you get older and hormones change, that alcohol wasn’t working for me anymore.

“I think growing up in Australia you think maybe you stand out for not drinking, so I didn’t say anything for a while because it wasn’t something I was struggling with.”

Then, over time, the need slowly began to disappear. “It took a while,” he added.

Tammin went on to say that she has been teetotal “on and off for about four years,” but revealed that it was two years ago that she stopped drinking for good.

“I had half a glass of champagne after I finished filming the movie Blood, Sweat & Cheer (released later in 2023),” he said.

“It was a physically and emotionally intense movie… at the end I remember thinking, ‘Oh my God, this movie is finished, I want to celebrate this wonderful experience.’

‘I had a glass of wine and the next day I had a terrible migraine. I thought, this is something that’s affecting me in a negative way when it’s supposed to be such a wonderful time.

It’s been a while since Tammin “felt drunk,” she said, but added that even half a glass of alcohol was enough to affect her health.

Tammin revealed that she sometimes suffers from ocular migraines, which cause vision and speech problems, and make my arm “tingle.”

These migraines only worsened with Tammin’s weekly social drinking, which had her consuming an average of four drinks each week.

“I would never take more than two (at one time) because for me, after two, I would feel horrible,” he said.

‘When I was in my early 30s, you could go to an event, have two on Monday, nothing on Tuesday, one on Wednesday and then two on Friday. “That was something constant.”

Added Tammin: “I had very little time where I was really feeling good.”

She said she often used alcohol as a crutch to help with her social anxiety when she went out socializing at events.

‘That was the most important thing for me and also drinking with food. “I loved having a glass of wine with dinner, but I would always come home and feel dizzy and nauseous,” she said.

But today: ‘I can honestly say I don’t miss it. I don’t think about that. I don’t miss it. It is no longer part of our lives.

The actress, who shares daughters Phoenix, 11, and Lennon, five, with husband Sean McEwen, said she has noticed a new wave of people stopping social drinking.

“I think there’s a big push toward a sober lifestyle and I think the more we talk about it, I think it’s going to help a lot of people.”

Tammin celebrated her second year of sobriety on Wednesday by sharing a heartwarming video on Instagram.

The caption questioned whether the actress thought she could have fun while sober, before smiling and sharing a montage of her action-packed year.

The star seemed to be having the time of her life as she attended events and concerts and had fun with her friends without a hint of alcohol in sight.

She revealed in the caption of the post that she never thought she would stop drinking alcohol, but said she started wondering why two years ago.

‘Why am I doing something that ultimately makes me feel worse during the few hours I felt good? Why was he taking time away from tomorrow? she wrote.

She added that she doesn’t miss drinking and is “actually more excited to socialize and have fun, go to concerts, be with my family.”

‘I’m sharing my journey. You do it! This could also be inspiration and a sign to try something new in 2025 and see how it goes!’ she finished.
