Home and Away actor Matt Evans has been criticised for a “creepy” stunt he pulled on social media.
The 27-year-old former Voice star recently shared a video on Instagram in which she revealed she would play her new song Better to Forget to a random fan after inviting them into her car to listen to it.
“Okay, let’s go see if we can find someone we can play my new song to. I’ve never done this before, I hope someone wants to hear it,” Matt told his fans.
He was then seen driving into a Sydney park and asking a woman walking on the pavement if she wanted to get into his car with him.
—Hey, excuse me, do you want to come to my car and listen to a new song of mine? —Matt said.
“No, thank you. But good luck,” the woman immediately replied before quickly walking away.
A red-faced Matt told fans he would never do that again, admitting: “I’m so embarrassed.”
Furious fans quickly took to the comments section to slam Evans for his inappropriate request.
Home and Away actor Matt Evans (pictured) has been slammed online for a “creepy” stunt he pulled on social media. The Voice star shared a video on Instagram in which he revealed he would play his new song to a random person, inviting them into his car to listen to it.
“She didn’t want to sit in your car. STRANGER DANGER!” said one fan, while another added: “You probably scared the shit out of her.”
However, one fan pointed out that the stunt looked fake: “People think it’s real and not staged. It’s his friend,” and Evans confirmed that they were “acting” in the clip.
Matt began his career in showbiz singing show tunes on the ninth season of The Voice Australia in 2020.
Matt rose to fame on the singing reality show as part of Team Delta, before joining forces with Janie Gordon as a duo.
He was then seen driving into a Sydney park and asking a woman walking along a path if she wanted to get in his car with him, and she immediately refused his request.
Furious fans quickly took to the comments section to slam Evans for not realising how inappropriate his request was, with Matt later claiming the stunt was staged.
The following year, she expanded her career into acting by joining the long-running soap opera Home and Away.
Speaking about his first acting role with The Daily Telegraph, Matt told the publication he was “learning on the job”.
“I went in there with a clean slate and I’m learning a lot every day,” he said.
