Ada Nicodemou has shared details of her shocking, life-changing injury and revealed the highly unlikely way it happened.
The Home and Away actress, 47, has long been known for her active lifestyle but has told how she had to change her fitness regime after suffering a gruelling injury.
Talking to personal trainer Tiffiny Hall about her Bounce Forward program podcastAda admitted that she had a herniated disc in her spine due to sneezing.
Recalling the unexpected incident, Ada recounted how she was left in agony after injuring her back with a sneeze while getting ready to hit the gym about a year ago.
“I had an injury, don’t laugh, about a year and a half ago I sneezed,” she explained to podcast host Tiffiny.
‘I woke up in the morning at 5am to go to the gym and I was in the locker room changing and I ruptured a disc. I was in so much pain!’
Ada underwent surgery for the injury and suffered permanent nerve damage, leaving her foot permanently numb, meaning she can no longer run.
“I had to have surgery, I still have a numb foot on one side and it will probably never fully heal. I think I’ve damaged a nerve,” he added.

Speaking to personal trainer Tiffiny Hall on her podcast, Ada admitted she was left with a herniated disc in her spine from sneezing while getting ready to hit the gym last year.
“But it really made me rethink a lot of things I was doing because I’ve always been fit, I love working out, for my mental health I’ve now realized.”
Ada said she now does reformer Pilates as her main form of exercise, instead of her previous intense training regimen of boxing, spinning and weight lifting.
“I was a machine, I was spinning and then boxing, all that kind of stuff, then I also got into heavy weight lifting. Now, I feel like I’ll never deadlift again in my life,” he said.
“I can’t run because I’ll break my ankle because my foot is numb.”
Elsewhere, Ada recently found love with her Home and Away co-star James Stewart, with news of their romance breaking when they were spotted kissing on Anzac Day.
The couple have known each other since 1998, when they co-starred in the short-lived Channel Ten soap Breakers, and have both been regular stars on Home and Away since 2016.
Ada described her blossoming romance with James as “unexpected” when she broke her silence on their relationship last week.
“Jimmy and I are together, yes. It’s just the beginning. It’s very new and very unexpected. I’m very happy. It’s really beautiful,” she said. Stellar Magazine.
She insisted the fact her Home And Away characters Leah Patterson and Justin Morgan tied the knot on screen was not an early sign of their real-life romance.
The wedding episode aired on April 9, but was filmed about six months earlier, and Ada insisted her “genuine feelings” only surfaced later.
Ada was left with permanent numbness in one foot and now does reformer Pilates as her main form of exercise, rather than her previous intense weight lifting regimen.
