The Los Angeles fires have left Palisades Charter High School, the filming location of Stephen King's Carrie (pictured), 40 percent destroyed.

The Los Angeles fires have partially destroyed the famous school that was the setting for several Hollywood blockbusters, including Freaky Friday.

More than 40 percent of Palisades Charter High School is “damaged or destroyed” due to the devastating inferno, the school’s principal revealed.

The free school, attended by American filmmaker JJ Abrams and Black Eyed Peas member Will.i.am, has suffered partial destruction by the inferno, producing “dangerous conditions” on the campus.

As of Sunday, the Palisades Fire, the largest of three burning through Los Angeles, burned 23,713 acres and was only 13 percent contained.

Principal Dr. Pam Magee warned students not to visit campus due to potential risks, such as asbestos and black carbon.

Likely due to its desirable location, Palisades Charter High School has long been a popular filming location for Hollywood films, setting the stage for the 1976 adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie.

The school also appeared in the 2003 American comedy Freaky Friday as the school attended by Anna (played by Lindsay Lohan) and Jake (played by Chad Michael Murray).

MTV’s Teen Wolf, which follows a high school student after he suffers a werewolf bite and features Dylan O’Brien and Tyler Posey, also used the school as a filming location.

More recently, international pop star Olivia Rodrigo filmed the music video for Good 4 U in the school’s sports hall and locker room.

“Earlier this week, Pali’s Director of Operations and I were brought to campus with police escorts due to dangerous conditions,” the school’s principal wrote in a Facebook post.

Dr. Pam Magee continued, “I am pleased to report that many spaces were not visibly damaged by the fire, including Gilbert Hall, Mercer Hall, most classroom buildings, gymnasiums, the baseball field, MGAC/pool, the Stadium by the Sea, the Quadruple and more.

‘Furthermore, a significant portion – now estimated at more than 40 percent – has been damaged or destroyed.

‘I request the full cooperation of the Palisades community: our families, staff, students and neighbors.

“Due to potential harm and dangers, such as asbestos, PCBs, black carbon and other toxins, we must limit access to the campus.”

The post continued: ‘Only persons authorized by me, the Los Angeles Police Department or the Los Angeles Unified School District will be permitted to enter the property.

‘In short, please refrain from entering the campus as it is prohibited until further notice.

“The presence of these toxins, especially in the burned area, could pose significant health risks, especially for children, and we want to ensure everyone’s safety.”

Due to damage resulting from the fires, Palisades Charter School students are currently transitioning to virtual learning.

The fires have destroyed 40,000 acres in Los Angeles’ most affluent neighborhoods, with A-list celebrity homes and restaurants among the 12,300 razed structures.

Local fire departments have warned that stronger winds and more fires would prevent those under mandatory evacuation orders from returning to their homes to assess the damage.

“Life-threatening winds and dangerously low humidity are forecast across much of Southern California, creating a significant risk of rapid fire spread,” the California Fire Service (calFire) said in a statement. “The winds will cause an increase in fire activity.”

Helpless locals now turn to maps to assess the damage remotely, learning from thousands of images which homes have been leveled and which have been miraculously saved.

TO Eaton Fire Map Shows 3,800 structures were inspected, including the Mandy Moore family home, in the mountainous area north of Los Angeles, about 24 percent of the evacuation zone that was decimated by the fire.

California Fire Commander Kevin Bohall said 1,422 of the structures they have reached so far were completely destroyed. Another 212 suffered some level of damage.

Between the carnage and the devastation, the map shows four houses in a row that somehow still remain seemingly intact, although surrounded by ashes and rubble.

Los Angeles City Fire Chief Kristin Crowley said “there are still active fires within the Palisades area, making it extremely, extremely dangerous to the public.”

“There is no electricity, there is no water, there are broken gas pipes and we have unstable structures.”

Efforts will intensify as the fires are contained, but an urgent weather warning issued on Sunday revealed there is still an increased risk over the next 72 hours.

Authorities warned that the ashes may contain lead, arsenic, asbestos and other harmful materials.

Authorities issued a rare “particularly dangerous situation” warning, which was also issued the day before the initial fires broke out last week.

The Eaton Fire has burned 14,117 acres of land, an estimated 7,000 structures and 16 people have been found dead among the charred debris, making it the fifth deadliest fire on record in California, even as it still rages through the mountains.

The inferno is 27 percent contained, but there are growing fears that the wild weather forecast for the next 72 hours will only fan the flames and make it harder to contain.

But Eaton’s size has been dwarfed by the Palisades fire spreading closer to the coast, which has devastated celebrity enclaves from Pacific Palisades to Malibu and threatened homes in Brentwood and Santa Monica.

He Palisades map shows fire that burned 23,707 prime real estate properties in Southern California, destroying the homes of celebrities like Miles Teller, Paris Hilton and Mel Gibson and leveling entire neighborhoods.

It spread from the celebrity enclave of Pacific Palisades down the coast to Malibu, where it destroyed iconic homes along the beach.

Craig Fugate, who led the Federal Emergency Management Agency during the Obama administration, told the Los Angeles Times On Sunday, Los Angeles is experiencing a natural disaster as significant as Hurricane Katrina was in New Orleans.

“This is your Hurricane Katrina,” he said.

‘It will change the community forever. It will be a point of contact that everyone will remember, before and after.

“And for Los Angeles, this will go down as one of the defining moments in the community, the city and the history of the county.”

Fugate said the difference between flood and fire is what remains.

‘In forest fires, nothing remains but ashes. It’s almost like a total erasure of their history.

‘For many people, that will be the aggravating trauma. It’s not just that they lost their home, but they also lost their memories.’

Miles Bliss of the National Weather Service provided a grim update Sunday afternoon, warning that the strong Santa Ana winds that fueled the infernos last week will intensify once again.

“Critical fire weather conditions are expected during this time, so be prepared to evacuate if directed by officials,” he said.

The weather is expected to contribute to another series of dangerous and potentially extreme fire conditions that could exacerbate fires already burning and cause new ones to emerge.
