Hollywood Plastic Surgeon Reveals 5 Male Celebrities Who Have Had Facial Fillers to ‘Plump Out’ Their Cheeks After Losing Weight

Many of America’s favorite male celebrities are famous for their enviable cheekbones and chiseled masculine features.

But a new group of Hollywood stars seem to be modeling a surprisingly puffier, rounder look.

Fans of much-loved heartthrob Ryan Gosling were horrified last month at the premiere of his latest film, The Fall Guy, when his trademark angular face appeared a little… fuller.

Speculation was rife that The Notebook star had undergone non-surgical procedures to have dermal fillers injected into her cheek in order to achieve a more youthful appearance.

Now, Dr. Gary Motykie, surgeon to the stars, told DailyMail.com that Gosling is just one of a host of male celebrities following the trend.

Hollywood plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie says “chipmunk face” is a growing problem among male celebrities who want to avoid looking gaunt after losing weight.

It’s a pattern, he says, that has been driven in part by stars losing weight rapidly after taking the hit weight-loss drug Ozempic.

“You can lose weight pretty quickly with injections, but you also lose volume in your face,” the Los Angeles surgeon said. ‘Even regaining the weight doesn’t restore the volume.

“I see that more patients come asking for fillings because they have You lost weight quickly and want to add volume again. Sometimes it’s because of Ozempic and other times it’s just because of dieting.’

Below, Dr Motykie details four other celebrities he believes may have done exactly this…

Tom Cruise, 61 years old

Night out: Cruise was enjoying a night out at Oracle Park to watch the San Francisco Giants play the Los Angeles Dodgers with his son Connor, 26, by his side (pictured, left) in October.

Cruise’s former manager has said he is “obsessed with his looks” and “wants to stay young.” She is pictured on the left in 1996 and on the right in 2019.

Actor Tom Cruise is famous for his strong, angular features that have earned him leading roles in action films, such as the Mission: Impossible series.

But in 2021, the War of the Worlds star appeared at a basketball game in San Francisco, California, with an unusually swollen face.

Dr. Motykie noted that this was just two years after he finished filming for Top Gun: Maverick, where he showed off an impressively toned figure and reportedly followed a diet consisting of just 1,200 calories.

Dr Motykie said: “What happens is people lose weight, they feel better and their body looks better.”

“But when they are between 30, 40 and 50 years old, the face does not recover as well and they appear haggard, so they have to resort to fillers to regain volume.”

Fillers are chemicals injected into the face to increase volume and smooth wrinkles, helping patients look younger.

They contain a natural ingredient called hyaluronic acid, which draws water from the surrounding skin and plumps the area.

Daniel Craig, 56 years old

And with a swollen face in 2018.

Daniel Craig was among the stars who suddenly appeared with the most swollen faces. He has repeatedly embarked on extreme weight loss programs for James Bond roles, which may have contributed to his gaunt face. Daniel Craig has never confirmed the use of fillers

Daniel Craig embarked on extreme weight loss programs no less than five times to play British secret service agent James Bond in the major film franchise.

But plastic surgeons say this would have caused a permanent loss of volume in his face, causing a more haggard appearance.

Dr. Motykie said he likely received fillers to combat this and have a “fuller” facial appearance.

“Daniel Craig started looking a little haggard starting in his 40s,” he said, “when you lose all that weight, it really shows in your face.” However, Dr. Motykie notes that starting around 2018, Craig’s face appeared to miraculously swell in the cheek area.

Initially, fillers can cause a “puffy” and “fuller” face, the surgeon said, because they suck out fluid from surrounding tissue that builds up in the face.

This subsides within a few days or weeks as the body redistributes fluid and swelling subsides, but there is a period of time when the face appears “spongy.”

Many stars go into hiding during this period, Dr. Motykie said, but some can get stuck in the cookie jar if they come out into the public too soon.

Zac Efron, 36 years old

The High School Musical star is no stranger to speculation about her changed appearance.

In 2021, Zac Efron suddenly debuted a new jawline, which he said was due to reconstructive surgery following a nasty fall that had “shattered his jaw.” At the end of 2023, he also appeared with a more swollen face.

Dr Motykie said it was almost certain that Efron had received fillers in his face, possibly to replace volume lost from diets aimed at reducing fat.

But the plastic surgeon said it was also possible that the star’s puffier appearance could be related to hormone or testosterone injections, which the star is also speculated to have used.

“You may have lost weight and then tried to gain it back,” Dr. Motykie said, “but you couldn’t regain the volume in your face.”

Zac has faced repeated plastic surgery speculation after appearing with an altered jaw, but has denied all suggestions.

David Beckham, 48 years old

A spokesman for the former England football captain declined to comment, although a friend insisted he had not undergone any cosmetic surgery. He is pictured in March 2019.

It was also alleged that David Beckham had undergone facial fillers. David Beckham has never confirmed that he used fillers

David Beckham, 48, was football’s pretty boy, famous for his angular jaw and sharp cheekbones.

But in 2023 he appeared at the UK premiere of the film ‘Beckham’ modeling a much fuller face.

Dr Motykie said her face may have thinned as a result of losing weight for her copious fashion photo shoots, and the star then turned to filler to regain volume.

Ryan Gosling, 43 years old

Some wonder if Gosling has been grooming himself and working out. He looks more like Amy Schumer than the fine-featured leading man we all adore, others say.

He’s hung up Ken’s Stetson, but Ryan Gosling’s apparent passion for the plastic could go beyond playing Barbie’s boyfriend.

With a waxy glow and seemingly inflated cheeks, Gosling, 43, is causing something of a stir among his bemused fans on social media.

Has he been preening and pumping, some wonder. She looks more like Amy Schumer than the fine-featured leading man we all adore, others say.

Speculation began after he attended the Fall Guy launch in Austin, Texas, last month.

Dr. Motykie said Gosling may also have been trapped after coming out too soon after the fillers.

He said surgeons often recommend putting them in gradually so the change in features isn’t as noticeable.

But for some celebrities, surgeons may end up injecting a larger amount at once if they have to appear at an event and don’t want to look emaciated.
