This is the season for ‘chills and thrills’ on Freeform.
The network has completed the 25th anniversary milestone of its “31 Nights of Halloween” program block for the month of October, which will run from October 1 through October 31.
Seasonal favorites return as the cult classic Hocus Pocusstarring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy, courtesy of Walt Disney Pictures and Tim Burton’s lover The nightmare Before ChristmasCourtesy of Touchstone Pictures. The latter title, by director Henry Selick, celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
The Halloween town franchise will be part of the lineup that includes the original 1998 TV movie starring Debbie Reynolds, Kimberly J. Brown, Joey Zimmerman, Emily Roeske and Judith Hoag, who along with Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge, Halloweentown High And Return to Halloweentown. Other major franchises in the lineup include The Twilight Saga, Monsters, Inc., The Addams Family, The Incredibles, Spider-Man, Hotel Transylvania And Vibrations.
Long-running animated series such as Family man And The Simpsons picked up a slot with the final series featuring the special creepy treehouse episodes. On the heels of the release of the latest Haunted house feature film, Freeform will air the original 2003 episode, starring Eddie Murphy, Marsha Thomason and Jennifer Tilly. Also new this year are the Freeform premieres of Disney’s animated hits Encanto, Zombies And Zombies 2.
“For the past 25 years, our viewers have grown up with ’31 Nights of Halloween’ as a time-honored tradition to watch Halloween favorites and connect with their loved ones during this special time of the season,” said Simran Sethi, EVP of programming and content strategy at ABC Entertainment and Freeform. “There is something sentimental about these holiday classics that gives people a real sense of comfort and nostalgia, and we look forward to celebrating this anniversary with another spirited lineup.”
