Hillary Clinton is comparing Donald Trump’s upcoming rally at Madison Square Garden to the 1939 pro-Nazi event at the same iconic venue.
Trump’s 2016 Democratic rival is still railing against him and warning Americans not to give him another term with only 12 days left until Election Day.
The former secretary of state said Trump is seeking to “recreate” the Nazi rally that took place at the New York City compound just over six months before the start of World War II.
He agreed with former White House chief of staff John Kelly’s classification of Trump as a “fascist.” and urged voters to “open their eyes” and stop Trump from winning.
“The term fits,” he told CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins on Thursday.
Hillary Clinton said Donald Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally on Sunday will seek to ‘recreate’ the neo-Nazi rally at the same location in 1939
Trump will hold a rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, just nine days before the 2024 presidential election.
Some have questioned the choice of location so close to the election when New York state is very blue and it is highly unlikely that the former president will be able to make up enough ground to win over voters in the liberal city.
“You know, another thing you’ll see next week in Kaitlan is Trump recreating the Madison Square Garden rally in 1939,” Clinton continued.
He explained: “Neo-Nazis and fascists in the United States were lining up to essentially pledge their support for the type of government they were seeing in Germany. So I don’t think we can ignore it.”
“Now, it may be a leap for some people, and a lot of others may think, ‘I don’t want to get there.’ I don’t want to say that.’ But please open your eyes to the danger this man represents to our country, because I believe it is clear and present to anyone paying attention,” Clinton concluded.
About 20,000 people attended a pro-Nazi rally at Madison Square Garden in 1939, just over six months before the start of World War II.
Sunday’s rally in New York City is sure to be packed with speakers supporting Trump’s bid for a second non-consecutive term in the White House.
The place has a capacity for 19,500 people and was completely filled during the neo-Nazi demonstration of 1939.
Trump says he will also sell out Madison Square Garden for his rally.
