The latest edition of Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update was well received on social media after it covered everything from Donald Trump being named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year to Sabrina Carpenter’s Christmas special.
The segment started with a series of quick jokes from hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che about the mysterious drones in New Jersey, former Congressman Matt Gaetz getting his own show on One America News and much more.
Che laughed audibly during many of Jost’s line deliveries, most notably during a joke about Luigi Mangione, the man accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
“This week, America continued the delicate, sensitive debate over who will play this man in the Netflix miniseries,” Jost said, likely a thinly veiled reference to Mangione’s army of fans who think he’s attractive.
However, the two sketches after the actual weekend update received the most attention on social media.
The first featured SNL writer Andrew Dismukes as a bald man who was brought into the studio to comment on a British judge who ruled that calling a man “bald” is sexual harassment.
Electrician Tony Finn claimed he was sexually harassed in 2019 by his boss, who called him a ‘bald c***’ during an argument. Finn sued his former employer after he was fired in 2021 and ultimately won in October.
Dismukes gave an energetic performance while wearing a bald cap. His various antics included applying lotion to his head before drying it, all of which was accompanied by loud sound effects.

He also joked that three bald judges had handed down the ruling which said using the word ‘bald’ against a man could breach equality laws because it is ‘inherently linked to sex’. A female judge of the British Supreme Court actually oversaw the case.
“So I imagine you’re quite happy with this statement?” Jost asked him.
‘Of course I’m tired of all these bald jokes, Colin. And yes, I’ve heard them all! When I take a shower I’m brainwashed, give me a break. Lice scream when they see my head, give me some rest,” Dismukes responded.
Throughout the segment, Dismukes pretended to be offended by Jost making light of his baldness. His parting line included a funny threat that he would take Jost to court and a reference to Scarlett Johansson’s ‘Marvel money’.
‘I dare you to laugh. I’d like to see you in court. My hairless hands on some of your wife’s Marvel money,” he said.
The bald man segment received a lot of reactions online, with almost everyone finding it hilarious.
“This might be a top 10 SNL Weekend Update of all time,” someone wrote in a post on X.
An actual bald man posted about the sketch and said, “Thanks weekend update. I feel so seen.’
Another also thought it was funny to cast Larry David as the bald man in the sketch.

The other comedy sketch that got quite a bit of attention was one in which SNL cast member Jane Wickline played a pale impersonation of Sabrina Carpenter. Wickline sang a song impersonating the pop star while complaining that no one makes up gay rumors about her
The other comedy sketch that got quite a bit of attention was one in which SNL cast member Jane Wickline played a pale impersonation of Sabrina Carpenter.
Last week, the 25-year-old Espresso hitmaker released her highly anticipated holiday special on Netflix, featuring special guest artists, comedy cameos and several other unexpected duets.
Wickline, who admitted she “can’t look or sound like” Carpenter, then launched into a song about how no one spreads rumors that the pop star is gay like people on the Internet do for every other celebrity.
“A lot of people on the internet love to spread juicy rumors about whether pop stars are gay and this is a new song that I, Sabrina Carpenter, wrote called ‘When Will Even One Person Do That About Me,'” Wickline said.
In addition to the many references to Carpenter’s love life, Wickline reminded the audience that Carpenter kissed Jenna Ortega in the music video for her song Taste.
“I’m passionately kissing Jenna Ortega,” she sang in frustration. ‘Help me. Just tell me where I’m going wrong. Why am I the one and only pop star who keeps their word? It’s lonely, I do gay things and you don’t get mad.’
Her performance received mixed reviews, but there were plenty of people who found it funny.
“The Jane Wickline as Sabrina Carpenter in Weekend Update was a brilliant, fun and simple commentary, beautifully executed,” one person wrote.
“Waiting unsure of all your opinions but I just saw that Jane Wickline and Andrew Dismukes were both on the weekend update and it put a smile on my face,” wrote another.
Much of the commentary online was also about how you could hear a girl screaming at the top of her lungs when Jost and Che were introduced.
“The girl screaming and pitching at the top of her lungs during the weekend update will be me if I ever get to attend SNL in person,” one person wrote.
Colin Jost and Michael Che joked about New Jersey’s drones, Trump was Time Magazine’s Person of the Year, and Mitch McConnell’s recent downfall at a GOP lunch
As they always do, both men delved into jokes written about the previous week’s major news events.
Amid all the chaos in New Jersey with the inexplicable drones flying overhead, Che talked about a drone that fell out of the sky and crashed in a homeowner’s backyard.
“Tensions over drones flying over New Jersey continued to rise after a drone crashed in someone’s backyard, but at least now we know whoever’s flying them are the damn women, right?” He said out of the side of his mouth.
Later, Jost seemed to share some frustration about Trump being Time’s Person of the Year, but understood why the magazine made this choice, saying, “Because not a single person on earth has taken more of our damn time.”
Che closed the meeting with a roast addressed to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who recently fell and sprained his wrist.
“He suffered minor injuries after falling during a Republican lunch, but luckily he landed on his hard back,” Che joked.
