A man bit the tongue of a bear in a desperate attempt to prevent the animal from killing him in a Russian forest.
Nikolai Irgit  encountered the bear while walking in forests in the Republic of Tyva, in southern Russia, according to police.
Reports show that Irgit collected antlers from deer in the forest not far from his village of Khut when the attack took place.
Nikolai Irgit  came across the bear in a forest in the middle of Russia while searching for deer antlers, when the animal began to tear his face and head apart.
The man was in the forest with two male friends. After starting a bonfire and preparing some food, the men went in different directions in search of the antlers.
When examining dense thickets, Mr. Irgit met a brown bear and started screaming in an attempt to scare the animal.
But the bear attacked and began to bite Mr. Irgit's head and body.
The local police say that Mr Irgit has put his teeth into the bear language in a desperate attempt to chase the animal away.
The man managed to bite off part of the animal's tongue and the injured bear ran away, causing Mr. Irgit to be torn badly, police said.
Mr. Irgit's friends flew into the field as soon as they heard the screams and called an ambulance.
The victim was rushed to the nearby town of Kyzyl and admitted to intensive care in a serious condition.
A police report describes how Mr. Irgit cut off a piece of the animal's tongue, causing it to run away before being rushed to the hospital, where he is now in a stable condition
He was diagnosed with numerous cuts to his face, head, arms, and stomach.
Doctors managed to stabilize Mr. Irgit's condition and his life is now not in danger.
After the incident, the men were interviewed by police officers.

The police are going to pay Mr. Irgit and his friends for collecting antlers in the Khutinsky Forest, a local nature reserve.
