A man has died after falling from a wind turbine north of Mackay, Queensland.

Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed crews were called to the property on Station Road at 12.40pm.

Shortly afterwards the crew of a helicopter was notified.

Paramedics assessed him for critical injuries, but he tragically died at the scene.

It is unclear what caused the tower to fall.

It is understood Workplace Health and Safety Queensland will launch investigations following the incident.
