A Melbourne high school drama teacher revealed he wins

A high school teacher has divided Australians after revealing his exorbitant salary.

The Melbourne man revealed he earns “just over $160,000” a year teaching drama to high school students after 27 years in the industry.

He said being a teacher had many advantages, including long vacations.

‘I started as an actor and then went into teaching. The workload is fine, I’m on vacation right now,” the man said in a video shared on TikTok.

“It’s definitely worth it.” I encourage anyone to get on board. For any actor, teaching theater is the best option.

“You get to do your craft every day and teach the future of actors.”

Despite his passion for the craft, many were incredulous as to how a drama teacher could make so much money.

“There’s no way,” one person commented.

Others wondered how they could make the same amount of money.

‘I’ve been teaching for 24 years (in Queensland) and I’m a long way from that!’ a second commented.

“I’m in the wrong profession,” said a third.

Some claimed the teachers were “overpaid,” while others said the amount made sense.

‘In public schools, teaching salary is based on the number of years taught. “This is totally reasonable for someone who has been teaching for 27 years,” one of them said.

The average salary for a teacher in Australia ranges between $95,000 and $105,000, according to job search platform SEEK.
