A school community in Louisiana is mourning the tragic loss of 17-year-old Dasayla Ardoin, who was murdered in what authorities are investigating as an apparent murder-suicide. Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office identified Ardoin, a Mamou resident, and the suspect, Glenkeithan Robertson, 21, of Opelousas.

Authorities believe the incident occurred while the couple was traveling to Mamou, possibly to attend homecoming festivities at the Ardoin school. Sheriff KP Gibson said PEOPLE which, based on the route the two were traveling, it is believed they were en route to participate in the homecoming events. Ardoin was dressed for the occasion and one of her latest photos shows her in a floor-length dress, ready for the festivities.
Robertson’s social media profiles paint a picture of the relationship between the two. Robertson, a DJ by trade, frequently posted images of himself and Ardoin. In one post, he captioned a photo of the couple with the words “You and me against the world.”
News of their deaths has left the community in shock, with friends and family expressing disbelief and grief at the tragedy. Tributes for both Ardoin and Robertson have flooded in on social media, with many expressing their sadness at the loss of such young lives.
