A prominent biker member of the Rebels has been arrested in western Sydney as part of a major police operation targeting an alleged drug syndicate.

Notorious Rebels rider Matthew Rymer was arrested by NSW Police at his home near Penrith on Wednesday.

Strike Force detectives, along with officers from the Tactical Operations Unit, attended Rymer’s home in Cranebrook at around 10.50am.

Officers searched the 40-year-old’s home, seizing a mobile phone and 30kg of MDMA, which has a street value of just under $1 million.

Rymer, who once held the title of Penrith chapter president, was one of three men arrested after Organized Crime Squad officers raided several properties.

Rymer was taken to Penrith Police Station and charged with four counts of supplying prohibited drugs, including large commercial quantity, manufacturing prohibited drugs, commercial quantity and knowing direct activities of a criminal group.

He was refused bail and will appear at Penrith Local Court on Thursday.

Police are understood to have seized 96 kilos of drugs during Wednesday’s raids.
