A heroic Atlanta-area Chick-Fil-A delivery driver was filmed fighting off an armed robber who made a chilling threat after smashing his drive-thru window.

Security footage from the restaurant on Stone Mountain Highway in Gwinnett County shows the unidentified employee arguing with a masked armed robber who pointed a gun at his head.

The gunman then demanded the employee open a safe in the manager’s office around 4:30 a.m. on July 1, police announced Wednesday.

In a terrifying moment, the suspect allegedly warned the worker that if he did not open the safe, he would die. 11 live reports.

But police said he fled the restaurant empty-handed before officers arrived at the scene.

The driver told officers he was working that night when the suspect smashed the drive-thru window with a rock and climbed into the kitchen area.

He then made the chilling threat, prompting the employee to defend himself, as he told officers he didn’t know the combination.

Investigators were eventually able to identify the vehicle they believed the suspect used to get to Chick-Fil-A, leading them to identify the suspect as Williams.

Police then issued arrest warrants charging Williams with armed robbery, aggravated assault, second-degree robbery, kidnapping, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and second-degree criminal damage to property.

Williams was finally arrested on Wednesday with the help of U.S. Marshals and the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department, 11 Alive reports.
