Fiancé Jess Hayes and young son Harvey were part of a long procession of fire engines that drove to the service in honor of Mr. Keaton.

NSW Rural Fire Service commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons honored Mr. Keaton with a praise for courage and a praise for the commissioner for service.

Images showed that Commissioner Fitzsimmons knelt at Harvey’s height so that he could pin the recommendation to his shirt.

Mrs. Hayes and Harvey saw Mr. Keaton say goodbye emotionally as they stood by his coffin and pressed a hand to a picture of him.

An RFS honor guard was also formed.
