“He said, ‘Oh, wow, you should really finish them. “You should finish these songs and then you could record demos of them or something,” he told his only daughter.
“So I thought, ‘Okay, well, I’ll do it.’
‘So, I started finishing songs. It was just this gradient of how it all came about. But that was definitely a big part of me wanting to get even more involved in this, it was just my dad.
Then he had his 13-year-old brother Benjamin listen.
“I’ll hear him humming later,” she said of Ben.
“They’re very supportive of me and they’re definitely a big part of if I ever say, ‘Okay, do I like this song?’ I always ask them to get their opinions. And I value that a lot.”
And he asked John for advice.
“I direct things a lot,” Ella said.

“The best advice I’ve ever gotten is obviously from him, but he also leaves it up to me, which I really appreciate.” He trusts me and my instincts a lot.’
She said she feels lucky to have a father who has been in the industry for a while.
“I’m very lucky to have been exposed to that from such a young age,” the star said.
“And that definitely sparked my interest in wanting to do it. I’m very excited and I’m trying to forge my own path and learn from my experience in my family and not take any of that for granted.”
On Colors of Love, each song is “a different point of view on love, whether it’s friends, uncertainty or unrequited love,” he adds.
