RCMP say they are responding to a helicopter crash near Purden Hill Ski Area, along Highway 16about 55 kilometers east of Prince George, BC
Police officials said there were “several people” on board, but did not comment on the extent of the injuries.
BC Emergency Health Services told Breaking: in an email that six ambulances responded to the scene and four people were taken to hospital.
The BC Coroners Service, a search and rescue team and firefighters are also on scene.
Drivers asked to slow down
In a statement, the RCMP says they were notified of the accident around 7:45 a.m. PT on Tuesday and responded with other emergency services.
The force asked motorists in the area to slow down and give emergency crews space to access the accident scene.
A Breaking: reporter said the staging area for emergency services was at the Purden Lake resort, which is west of the ski hill on the north side of Highway 16.
Breaking: watched BC Coroners Service officials arrive at the scene. A police helicopter, four fire trucks and search and rescue personnel were also present.
