Helena Christensen, 55, showcases her supermodel figure in a black swimsuit during glamorous photoshoot in Malibu

She is one of the most famous supermodels to ever grace the runway.

And Helena Christensen impressed when she posed for a swimsuit photoshoot in Malibu on Thursday.

The 55-year-old Vogue cover star looked toned in a black one-piece swimsuit as she strolled the sandy shores.

To keep warm between takes, the Danish beauty wrapped herself in a soft white dressing gown.

She stopped a few times during filming to take some selfies on an iPhone – presumably to post on social media.

Helena previously shared a series of stunning photos to mark her 55th birthday on Christmas Day.

The supermodel took to Instagram to reveal that she was taking part in her annual tradition of taking a birthday dip in a freezing cold lake.

Helena stripped down to a leopard print swimsuit, showing off her toned figure and enviably long legs.

Revealing where she gets her youthful look, Helena also shared a photo of her mum Elsa in a bathing suit as she got in on the action.

After her energetic morning, she spent the rest of the day celebrating with family and sharing photos while enjoying birthday cake and her mom’s homemade chili.

Vogue cover girl Helena rose to prominence in the late eighties and became one of the most popular models of her time.

Her starring role in the music video for Chris Isaak’s hit song Wicked Game, which made it into the top 10 on MTV’s Sexiest Videos of All Time list, raised her name and earned her recognition with fans worldwide.

In 1996, Frank DeCaro of the New York Times dubbed her and fellow supermodels Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Elle Macpherson the Magnificent Seven in an article.

After gracing the cover of top fashion magazines for more than three decades, Helena has become an accomplished photographer herself, whose work has appeared in Elle, Marie Claire and Nylon.

Helena dated several high-profile people, including The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus from 1998 to 2003. They have a son, Mingus Reedus, who is now 24.

She was also romantically linked to the late INXS singer Michael Hutchence from 1991 to 1995.

Alongside her work, Helena is currently an ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

The mother-of-one has made two trips to Colombia on behalf of UNHCR in Vogue, the first was in 2015.

After she returned from her second trip in September, Helena wrote a piece in Vogue about her experiences.

She wrote: ‘Last month when UNHCR asked me to return to Colombia, I immediately said yes.

‘Since I was on Colombian soil for the first time, more than 2.4 million refugees have arrived from Venezuela.

‘I invite you to show support and solidarity…for all the people who have been forcibly displaced in the world.’
