Selling Sunset’s Heather Rae Young has opened up about how becoming a mother affected her relationship with husband Tarek El Moussa in a new interview.
While reflecting on how welcoming her baby boy, Tristan, at the end of January changed their world, the 35-year-old reality star gushed about how she and her husband, 41, are always “united at the hip”.
‘We are really best friends. We’re true kindred spirits,’ former Playboy Playmate said We Weekly.
Still, the mother-of-one admitted: “It can be a challenge in a relationship because you’re so focused on the baby…but he’s so understanding of everything, and we’re really good at communicating.”
The Anaheim native, who stars alongside her man on the HGTV series The Flipping El Moussas, noted that “it’s even so hard to leave” her little one to “run errands” or “go to the gym.”

“I’m absolutely obsessed with being a mom,” she said. “I had practices with Taylor and Brayden, obviously, but going through the newborn stage and having a baby is a whole different ball game.”
She continued, “At first it’s chaos, isn’t it?” You have this new baby at home, you’re trying to figure it all out, and you’re postpartum.
‘Everything is different. But I didn’t think I would be so obsessed and in love with him. I knew I would, obviously, but it’s, like, this obsession and this love,’ Young told the outlet.
Although Tristan is her first child, she is also stepmother to El Moussa’s 12-year-old daughter, Taylor, and son, Brayden, 7, from his previous marriage to Christina Hall.
The bombshell went on to explain how motherhood changed her “for the better” and “definitely” made her “calmer and more patient and just more loving overall.”
“I don’t let things upset me and bother me. Like something stressful was going on,” she explained.
Young said if “people are negative” or “talking in public,” she reminds herself that her “peace for Tristan is more important.”
The star recently returned from a trip to Las Vegas with her husband, which she said marked her “first time really away” from her son.

“It can be a challenge in a relationship because you’re so focused on the baby…but he understands everything so much, and we’re really good at communicating,” the mother-of-one said.

“We did, like, a quick 19-hour trip to Vegas because dad needed it, and we just laughed,” she divulged.
Young also said that she and El Moussa always make time to hang out, despite their busy schedules.
“If he feels like he needs more time with me, then we’ll go spend our quality time together because my relationship is really important with Tarek,” she said. “We are the foundation of the family, and if the foundation starts to crack, other problems start to occur.” So, I know it, and it’s getting easier and easier.
The couple met through mutual friends in Newport Beach on July 4, 2019.
