Newly released footage shows the incredible moment a drone camera successfully locates a three-year-old boy who replies “I found a cat” after being lost for an hour in a massive Wisconsin cornfield.

The boy’s parents made a 911 call to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office after the boy went missing inside the 100-acre “standing cornfield” behind their home on Aug. 25.

When officials arrived at the scene, they discovered the boy was last seen around 7:30 a.m. and there was no sign of him in any of the family’s barns or buildings.

To increase the search range, the Sheriff’s Office requested officers from the Alto Fire Department, as well as a drone operator from the Fond du Lac Police Department.

In a Facebook post, police revealed that the drone provided significant assistance in “navigating the conditions and covering a large area in a shorter period of time.”

Nearly two hours after the boy went missing, the footage shows the moment the drone located a hot spot in the middle of the cornfield that was identified as the boy.

Within seconds, Fond du Lac County deputies and fire personnel made their way into the cornfield toward the boy and were able to rescue him.

One of the first responders was heard reassuring the boy, telling him: “We’re here, buddy, we’re here to help you. You’re safe now. You’re okay. We’re going to go back and we’re going to find your mom, okay?”

The young man was found half a mile from his home without injuries.
