A Tennessee guard was arrested for allegedly throwing boiling water on a deaf man, causing him second and third degree burns, after she became impatient with him.
Tina Vaughn, 42, was arrested Monday and charged with aggravated assault of a vulnerable adult and simple assault.
Police were called to the Regional One Burn Center in Memphis by staff treating the victim, Dontay Battle, 22, for burns to the right side of his face, shoulder and right side of his back, according to a affidavit consulted. by DailyMail.com.
Battle, using a sign language interpreter, said his guard threw boiling water on him on January 21.
The events occurred around 10:30 p.m. at the victim’s group home in the 600 block of Gookin Place when he boiled a pot of water to cook noodles.

Vaughn allegedly threw the boiling water on Dontay Battle, 22, when she became angry with him after he began boiling a pot of water to cook noodles.
“Dontay Battle stated that Tina Vaughn was angry with him and told him to go to the living room,” the affidavit states.
“While Dontay Battle was on the couch, Tina Vaughn became upset and threw boiling water on Dontay Battle, causing burns to his face, neck and back.”
The affidavit said Battle suffered from “intellectual and developmental disabilities,” which include schizophrenia and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and that Vaughn was responsible for his well-being.
Police said Vaughn did not immediately call for medical help after the incident, but called his supervisor.
The victim said that after the boiling water was thrown on him, he screamed and ran from the apartment.
The next morning, when Vaughn arrived at work, she called an ambulance which took the victim to the burn center.
In a separate police report relating to the incident, the victim previously claimed she tripped on a rug while carrying boiling water and accidentally burned herself, reported Law and crime.
Vaughn also claimed the victim accidentally burned himself and sought medical attention “when the extent of his injuries became apparent.”

A representative for Vaughn’s employer said WREG that she is no longer employed with them and declined to comment further on the matter.
Her husband told the local station he was shocked by the allegations and that his wife has worked in the housekeeping industry for more than 15 years and loves what she does.
He said his wife genuinely cared about the victim and even raised concerns about living conditions at the group home.
Vaughn posted $50,000 bail Wednesday and has a hearing scheduled for April 3.
