A bus driver accused of reckless driving causing the death of an 18-year-old woman has had his case delayed for at least two months due to a mechanic’s report.
Tia Cameron was hit by a Brisbane City bus while walking on a footpath in the city’s central business district on March 8, 2024.
Mrs Cameron, an administrative worker, was trapped against a wall and died at the scene, while four bus passengers were treated for minor injuries.
Municipal bus driver Lindsay Francis Selby, 70, was charged months later with driving without due care and attention causing death.
Selby was not required to appear in person when his charges were mentioned in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Mrs Cameron’s father, Alastair, attended court in the public gallery.
Defense lawyer Claire McGee told magistrate Ross Mack he had not been provided with a full forensic report with “assessments relating to the mechanics of the bus”.
‘I have part of a report. “The report that I requested prior to the first mention, its substance has not yet been received,” Ms. McGee said.

‘We have half of the report. The annex to the report is missing: the mechanical inspection.
Prosecutor Bimal Raut said he could only request the report.
‘I should be able to clear the way. “I just have to wait,” he said.
McGee said another prosecutor had told her it could take three weeks to file the report, which she had requested several times.
‘You should live my life. “I ask for things all the time and I never get them, especially in this court,” Mr. Mack said.
The magistrate said he would adjourn the matter until March 26.
‘You’re not going to achieve anything in three weeks. You have to give it to someone other than a lawyer who can read a mechanical report,’ he said.
Mack told McGee that he could take the matter back to court if the prosecutor’s office did not provide him with the complete report within three weeks.
Selby’s release on bail continued.
