A heartbroken widow has issued a heartbreaking plea as she recalls hearing the sound of the crash that tragically claimed her husband just minutes from home.
Dylan Stokes, 34, was on his way to the IGA to buy instant glue when his motorcycle was involved in a collision with a silver Nissan Dualis on Burpengary Road in Narangba, north of Brisbane, last Friday night.
It was not possible to revive him.
His wife Alana was waiting for him at home at the time of the accident, which was their 16th wedding anniversary.
Four days after the tragedy, Ms Stokes issued an emotional appeal to all road users.
“I heard the bang. I was a minute away from getting home,” he said. Courier mail.
“I just want people to check for motorcycles and double-check before they turn off a side street.”
Her husband has been remembered as a passionate motorcyclist and an “amazing” stepfather to her 11-year-old son Elijah.

“Dylan was amazing. Our neighbors said he was the neighborhood watch because he spent a lot of time in the garage working on his bike, fixing something or making something,” Stokes said.
The male driver of the Nissan and his female passenger, both aged 21, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
The Caboolture couple are assisting police with their investigations.
A friend has created a GoFundMe Fundraising page to organize what Mr. Stokes deserves.
“My good friend Alana lost her husband last night, September 13, 2024, just 16 months away from her wedding date,” Meagan Wilkes wrote.
“He was involved in a motorcycle accident. He was unable to return home to his wife Alana and Elijah. He will be greatly missed.”

The fundraiser has already raised more than $7,000.
Mr Stokes was one of three people killed on the highway through south-east Queensland on Friday night.
