This is the heartbreaking moment a sobbing nine-year-old boy handed over to cops a huge bag of methamphetamine he found under his mother’s nightstand.
The young man locked himself in the bathroom inside the family’s $430,000 Las Vegas home in the Nevada community of Inspirada, less than 20 miles from the Las Vegas Strip, and spoke on Facetime with his father, who then called police.
When Henderson Police Department officers arrived, the boy told them, “I saw a couple of bags and I took them out and then I knew what it was.”
Police confirmed there were more than 100 grams (3.5 ounces) of methamphetamine in the bag. The incident took place in July 2022, but police body camera footage was released for the first time this week.
Kendra Long, the boy’s mother, was arrested on charges of drug trafficking and child abuse. She told police she was unaware of the drugs found in her home and she posted $25,000 bail that same day, according to local court records. 8News now reported.
Bodycam footage shows Henderson Police Department officers pounding on the door of the home. The boy’s mother, Kendra Long, dressed in a white T-shirt and red shorts, is seen opening the door. The officer tells Long, “We’re here to check on her son.”
Seconds later, the video shows the boy wearing a backpack approaching the officers and handing them a ziplock bag filled with white powder.

Seconds later, the video shows the boy wearing a backpack approaching the officers and handing them a plastic bag full of white powder.
The boy is seen wearing shorts and a T-shirt with no shoes holding his iPad and appears shaken.
The second officer asks, ‘Hey, what’s going on? I’m Officer Hansen. Are you afraid? What’s up man? Does he want to sit on the bench?
His mother tells the officer, “He’s had my phone in the bathroom for about an hour.”
The boy’s mother then tells officers, “I have no idea what that is.”
The officer responds: “He just handed it to me.”
She is then heard saying: ‘It’s okay. I don’t know. I don’t know.’
The officer asks, ‘Is this your son?’
She replies: ‘Yes, he is my baby. He’s been in the bathroom for an hour, literally an hour.
The officer picks up the bag and tells Long, “I was showing Tony these things that I found in the house.”
She replied, “I don’t even know what that is.”
The officer said, “Well, neither do I.”

Long repeated several times that he did not know what the white powder in the ziplock bag was. Officer Engle told him, “To me it probably looks like meth, you know?”
The other officer is seen outside the house trying to comfort the boy who is sitting on the bench crying.
Officer Hansen asked, ‘What did you find inside the house that scared you?
The boy said, “Drugs.”
Then the officer asked, ‘Do you know what drugs are like?’
The boy told the officer, “Yes,” while sobbing.
The officer told the boy to “take a deep breath.”
He proceeded to tell the police officer: ‘I just saw a couple of bags. He was curious. I just pulled it out and that’s when I knew what it was.
The officer asked, ‘Did you think it was drugs like the ones on TV and stuff.’
The boy said, ‘Yes.’
In the video, the agents appear surprised by the amount of methamphetamine they found and after collecting the drug.
Once they re-entered the house, Long was sitting on the steps as she was read her rights earlier.
He tried to refute what the agents were telling him. “I can’t even understand or comprehend the fact that what’s in my house is drugs.”
At one point, he told police he didn’t even know what methamphetamine was. The officers did not seem to believe him.
Footage shows Long being handcuffed by police.
In the video, the boy’s father is seen picking up his son while the officers tell the young man that they were proud of him and that he did the right thing.
According to Long’s Linkedin profile, she specializes in property management and owns a real estate brokerage firm.
Prosecutors said Long violated a family court order and violated other rules.
His case was heard in several courts, including Henderson Justice Court, Las Vegas Justice Court and Clark County District Court.
She was sentenced to probation, which prosecutors say she violated. She was also sent to an inpatient drug treatment program.
During the legal process, prosecutors showed text messages that revealed Long was dealing drugs from his home while his son was present.
One of the texts prosecutors showed says: “Of course I’m home.” You want a hundred dollar bag or half that.’
The child’s parents are divorced and the child is in the care of his father.
Long’s attorney declined to make a statement, according to the news outlet.
