A mother bird has been captured and feeds its chick with a cigarette butt on a Florida beach.
Karen Mason, an enthusiastic environmental expert, took the series of shocking photos during a vacation in St. Petersburg, Florida.
The black skimmer picks up a cigarette butt and thinks it's food before he hands it to his chick.
The disturbing images show that the younger bird is running away with the flask still in its mouth.

It is not known if the bird actually ate it, but Karen says it could have killed the little Skimmer.
Karen, from Largo, Florida said: & I don't know if the chick actually ate the ass. I hope not because it was able to kill it.
& # 39; These birds come together to nest on the beaches of Florida. There are no beaches in Florida that are not full of people, so they must try to exist alongside us and our waste.

In a Facebook post, Karen wrote: & # 39; This little chick got a cigarette butt from her parents. It is time for us to clean up our beaches and no longer treat them like a giant ashtray. & # 39;
