Animal lovers have been left in tears after a dog was found abandoned in the street with a bag containing its belongings – and a heartbreaking note from the owner who was forced to abandon it.
Baby Girl was discovered in Green Bay, Wisconsin, looking sullen and confused while tied to a fire hydrant.
When the Wisconsin Humane Society rescued Baby Girl, there was a bag containing her favorite things, along with a letter from her previous owner.
Although rescuers did not repeat verbatim what the letter said, they revealed that the owner abandoned the dog in an “act of desperation” as he struggled with homelessness and suffered from cancer.

Rescuers thanked the owner in a heartbreaking open letter that left tears in their eyes.
The heartbreaking letter reads: “We see your love in the way you secured her leash so she wouldn’t get hit by a car.
“We see your love in the way you placed her in the middle of a neighborhood where she would quickly be found.
“We see your love in Baby Girl’s happy and healthy appearance. And we see your love in the note you left, begging for someone to help when you no longer can.
The team that cares for abandoned dogs anonymously continued to express their gratitude to the owner: “We see that you did what you thought was best for your beloved puppy and we are grateful for your compassion “.
Baby Girl’s owner later anonymously explained to CNN why she had no choice but to abandon her beloved pet because she was homeless and undergoing chemotherapy.
The unidentified woman said she called seven places to see if they would take the 6-year-old — but all of them responded with a resounding no.
Having no other choice, the owner tied the dog to the fire hydrant and hid in the road to make sure the dog was safe.

It was later revealed that the adorable dog’s previous owner was undergoing chemotherapy treatment and living on the streets. The former owner described it as the “hardest thing” she has ever done, but she is confident the dog “will be in a better place”.
The torn owner said CNN: ‘It was the worst, it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life
“When I put her on the fire hydrant, I just saw her face saying, ‘Mom, what, what, what’s going on here?’
“She was my life, but I know she’s going to be in a better place.”
As usual, the Humane Society took Baby Girl in for a routine exam after picking her up from the fire hydrant.
During the appointment, it was spotted that the little girl was suffering from diabetes mellitus, also called canine diabetes.
Due to health issues that can lead to high blood sugar levels, the adorable dog requires home insulin injections, daily blood sugar monitoring and a restricted diet.
This illness likely could have cost the dog’s owner, who was already living on the streets, according to a member of the Wisconsin Humane Society.
They explained that monitoring the pet’s diabetes, medical supplies and veterinarian appointments could have cost “hundreds of dollars per month.”

Baby Girl was also discovered to be suffering from canine diabetes which was reportedly costing her hundreds of dollars a month. The former owner explained in her letter that she had difficulty balancing her own health care and that of the dog.

People flocked to the comments with sympathy for the dog’s former owner and the little girl, sharing their thoughts and compassion.
People flocked to the comments with empathy for the abandoned pet and its owner, with one woman saying: “How sad, but wonderful of you to write such a compassionate open letter to its former owner. “
Another added: “Sobbing watching this.” What a heart she has for Baby Girl. The hardest decision she’s ever made.
One woman commented with emotion: “This story made me cry not only for the little girl but also for the previous owner. What sadness for them both.
While one person “congratulated” the previous owner, writing: “I know it was extremely difficult for you to tie Baby Girl to the fire hydrant, but you watched to make sure she was safe.
“I wish you the best and a speedy recovery during your chemotherapy treatments.”
One person empathized: “It’s like abandoning a child!” Heartbreaking!’
However, the story isn’t entirely heartbreaking, as Baby Girl finally found her forever home just two weeks after being abandoned on the side of the road. Daily paws reports.
