The heartbreaking community of a mother and a 10-year-old daughter, who were killed in a gruesome double electrocution, congratulated the couple in a moving funeral service.

Juanita Bendel, 39, her & # 39; small cowgirl & # 39; Ava spent New Year's Eve together on their farm in Tumoulin, near Cairns in the far north of Queensland, when the tragedy struck.

Hundreds of mourners gathered Friday to say goodbye to the couple in Atherton, south of Cairns, in a service that described the close character of the family bond.

"She was the apple of her eyes", reported The Cairns Post that the parents of Ms. Bendel wrote as part of a eulogy that paid tribute to the couple.

The service also told about the love of mother and daughter for the country and rural life, and the impact that the tragedy had on their close, rural community.

Juanita and Ava were killed by a huge electric shock after they had attached a charger to a trailer, which had already been attached to an electric fence to keep horses out.

After the tragedy of last week, Juanita's parents made a heart-rending statement.

"Juanita loved the country life and the animals", they said then.

"Ava was also fond of rural life and always on her mother's side. Please check that all barns and houses have safe safety switches. & # 39;

The husband of Juanita Bendel, Mitchell Cole, who is the father of Ava, returned home around lunchtime to find the second oldest daughter of the couple in hysteria, before he made the grim discovery.

& # 39; The man found them, he had returned to the farm for lunch; he also got a big shock, "Chief Inspector Geoff Sheldon told The Cairns Post.

He began to give CPR … paramedics tried to resuscitate both mother and child, but the efforts were negative. & # 39;

Both Mrs. Bendel, who ran a children's center in nearby Ravenshoe, and her daughter were declared dead on the spot.

Supt Sheldon said that the tragedy had shaken the close-knit community of less than 800 people.

It's just a family tragedy, but it's so broader than that, & # 39; he said.

"Everyone in the community knew them, came to help in a time of crisis and they are all terribly affected by this."

The Regional Council of Plateaus Mayor Joe Paronella said the dead as a "terrible shock". for the community.

& # 39; It's a tragedy … and very sad loss. It only emphasizes how careful we should always be, "Cr Paronella told the Cairns Post.

Daily Mail Australia understands that Ava visited St. Teresa's primary school in Ravenshoe and was the eldest of three girls.

The married mother lived with her family on a cattle and horse property she owned with her husband.

The four-year-old sister of Ava, Hannah, was slightly injured by the electrified setup when she went outside to find them.

Their neighbor Mark Toohey, who came on the spot shortly after the tragedy struck, was desperate in losing those next to him.

He described the child who lost her life as "an active little cowgirl."

"The family grieves, we are all sad, I was on location," he told Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday.

& # 39; The probability that this happens is so far away. That makes it especially tragic. & # 39;

Health and safety at the workplace investigates the incident and the police prepares a report for the coroner.
