A Labrador who waited more than 900 days to return to his forever home was returned to the shelter after just one day of being adopted.
Sora, a Labrador retriever and pit bull mix, spent nearly three years at the Valley Animal Shelter in California, but his tail was left wagging excitedly after finally finding his forever home recently.
However, just one day after leaving, the adoption was canceled and the poor dog was returned.
The three-year-old boy’s sad story was posted on TikTok by Valley Animal on February 15 and has since garnered 1.6 million views and left dog lovers around the world heartbroken.
Sharing a video of Sora and another dog, Eros, who had also been quickly returned, the shelter wrote: “Their tails were wagging with hope as they were welcomed into their new home.

A spokesperson for the no-kill shelter said: “Sora is a sweet pup who has great energy. He fits perfectly into any home with an active lifestyle.
‘However, after a short period of time, these shelter dogs were found back in their kennels.
“They still have hope that somewhere their forever home will be found, where they will be appreciated as they deserve.”
The gorgeous dog has gained an army of fans after receiving dozens of offers from potential puppy parents.
One person wrote: ‘It takes six months for an animal to get used to a new home. “This is absolutely heartbreaking.”
Another commented: “We are the worst species ever… No puppy deserves this,” while a third devastated individual wrote: “Praying he finds his home soon.”
Offers poured in from hopeful candidates eager to begin the application process to adopt Sora, with one writing, “Where is this dog? I’ll go look for her, she’s so sad.”
Another person promised: ‘I swear to go, we will adopt her, where is this place?’, while a third said: ‘Anyone who is willing to take this precious baby, I will donate any travel expenses for her.’

They added: “While we do our best to provide him with ample physical enrichment, it never seems to be enough.” As As you can imagine, this has affected her mental health and led her to develop anxious behaviors.
‘According to our certified dog trainer, Mariah Prudhume, if you could get her into a loving home, her mental health would improve dramatically.
“With love and patience, she would not be the reactive dog she is today and would finally become the happy, silly dog she is meant to be.”
It comes after Britain’s loneliest dog, a Staffordshire bull terrier called Duke, is still waiting to be adopted after spending almost 500 days in a shelter.
