Fans were left in disbelief when Nelson Semedo avoided a card for a flying kick to the face of Callum O’Hare during Coventry’s dramatic 3-2 FA Cup victory over Wolves.

Wolves defender Semedo took out the Coventry midfielder in the 74th minute with a horrible high boot.

O’Hare required treatment but the referee did not even call a foul for Semedo’s indiscretion and he was not penalized.

Coventry reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup with a sensational victory at Molineux, scoring twice in added time to surprise the home fans.

‘How the hell is Semedo still on the field?’ wrote one person on X, formerly Twitter.

‘I’m sorry. Semedo just kicked him in the face, at head height, and without a free kick or additional VAR action?! another wrote.

‘Correct, VAR is a total disaster. The kid’s nose has clearly been made by Semedo’s boot and they don’t expel him? WHAT ELSE ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?! commented another.

‘Semedo is a very lucky boy. Wow,” one wrote.

Another user broke it down like this: ‘How come Nelson Semedo hasn’t been sent off there? Foot high, he kicked him in the head, without the ball. It’s the textbook red card.

Mark Robins’ side will compete in the semi-finals at Wembley 10 months after losing there in the Championship play-off final last season.

Ellis Simms had given the Sky Blues the lead after 53 minutes through a four-minute VAR decision.

Wolves thought they had broken Coventry hearts when Rayan Ait-Nouri equalized after 83 minutes and gave Hugo Bueno the lead five minutes later.

But football doesn’t work like that.

Seven minutes into injury time, Ellis Simms tied Coventry and three minutes later, Haji Wright unleashed a stunning shot past José Sa to write his name in history.
