‘Hawk Tuah’ girl Haliey Welch has responded after tennis star Nick Kyrgios criticised her surprise appearance at Jake Paul’s fight against Mike Perry on Saturday.
As the viral sensation received a huge reception at the Amelie Arena, Kyrgios took to social media and said: “There’s no correlation anymore between fame and being actually decent at something,” punctuating his criticism with a laughing emoji.
Speaking to TMZWelch admitted that the tennis star’s comments carried no weight with her.
“Let me put it this way: I don’t wake up and hate anybody else,” Welch told the outlet. “I don’t understand at all why people do that.”
I mean, they have their own opinion, they have a right to it, I don’t care. If they wake up and feel that way, so be it. I don’t care.

The tennis star made her feelings about Welch’s fame known on social media over the weekend.
However, Welch admitted that he enjoyed his first live boxing match, saying: “It was really exciting. I’ve never seen anything like it in person.”
Asked what the craziest part of Paul’s sixth-round knockout of the former UFC fighter was, Welch mentioned that Perry received a cut above the eyebrow.
“When he hit him in the eyebrow, I was in shock, there’s no way,” she said. “You see the saliva coming out, the sweat and everything. I was like, ‘There’s no way I’m going to see this right now.'”
She also talked about her newfound fame and the possibility of hiring security when she’s in more crowded places. She also mentioned that she’s not used to people asking her for photos when she’s in public.
Welch received a warm reception at the Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry fight at the Amelie Arena on Saturday.
Paul scored a sixth-round knockout over the former UFC fighter to improve to 10-1.
“At the time they didn’t have enough security personnel, but they gave us more. I’m not used to that, I guess I experienced it a bit.”
“Somewhere, like here, where there’s more activity, maybe (hire security). But I’ll be fine at home. I know almost everyone there.”
