The Optus network is down across the country, affecting more than 10 million customers and 400,000 businesses.
Trains, banks and hospitals have all been affected as mobile and internet services remain disrupted by the outage.
Communications Minister Michelle Rowland is seeking further information, including when services are expected to be restored.
