That clue came courtesy of publisher Take Two’s year-end financial report, which shows the release dates of upcoming games developed by the brand.
A screenshot of the report said that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S console versions are scheduled to launch in fall 2025.
No information was revealed regarding the possible release date of a PC version.
Reacting to the news on X, formerly Twitter, GTA fans were quick to express a mix of emotions at the news.
One user posted a screenshot of their own marketing roadmap prediction, which matched the possible release date published by Take-Two, as the individual in question estimated it would launch between November and December 2025.
Another was frustrated by how long they would have to wait for the game to come out if the date was accurate, posting: “We have two summers before GTA 6.”
Another lamented: “It’s hard to wait so long, longer than we expected and even with the announcement they still made us wait to play this.”
A more optimistic player seemed to have plans for its release, whenever that may be, as they wrote: “I’ll take a two-week vacation when this comes out.”

Another user pointed out the time it took to release GTA V for PC, as it wasn’t available to play on the platform until April 2015, almost two years after its console release.
They joked: “I can’t wait for this to come to PC in 2035.”
A statement from Take-Two accompanying the report said: “As we enter fiscal 2025 with positive momentum, we expect to generate net bookings of between $5.55 and $5.65 billion. Our outlook reflects a reduction of Rockstar Games’ previously established Schedule 2025 to Fall Schedule 2025 window for Grand Theft Auto 6.
“We are very confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience and our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to rise.”
The company added that: “Looking ahead, we believe our company is poised to achieve new levels of success and we expect to deliver sequential growth in net bookings for fiscal years 2025, 2026 and 2027.”
